Certification Testing

Any student seeking teaching certification is required to pass a minimum of two TExES certification tests.

Content Test: This test is completed  as part of admission to the program and Eligibility for Probationary Certificate Process. Graduate students must complete this test in the area seeking certification prior to being admitted into teacher preparation program and before beginning Internship or applying for Clinical Practicum (Student Teaching). Students are encouraged to participate in a test preparation and take a practice content test. 

Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility (PPR) Test: Teacher candidates may register to take the PPR Test when eligible.  To be eligible, candidate must meet all three criteria below:

  • Admitted into the Graduate Program for Initial Teacher Certification
  • Completed ED 506 and ED 508
  • Upon completion of ED 506 and ED 508, candidate is encouraged to participate in 6-hours of state mandated test preparation.  Before completing Internship or Clinical Practicum, candidate is required to provide documentation of participation in 6-hours of state mandated test preparation.
