The institution’s policies are clear concerning ownership of materials, compensation, copyright issues, and the use of revenue derived from the creation and production of all intellectual property. This applies to students, faculty and staff.

Statement of Rationale for Judgment of Compliance

Texas A&M University-Texarkana's policy on inventions, patents and copyright issues are addressed through strict adherence to Texas A&M University System policy (Section 17) as indicated in the Faculty Handbook. The system intellectual policy, patents, management of intellectual property, technology mediated instruction and Trans Texas Video Conference Networking are each discussed in the faculty handbook. 

Intellectual property includes patents, copyrights, trademarks, plant varieties, tangible research products, know-how, technology mediated instruction, and other intellectual properties which are defined in detail in the individual policies and regulations. Texas  A&M University System Policy 17.01 Intellectual Properties and 17.02  Patents (which includes 17.02.01 Management of Intellectual Property and 17.02.02 Technology-Mediated Instruction, represent A&M-Texarkana’s institutional policy with regard to these items respectively. These policies govern the activities of all faculty, staff, and students.  These policies include guidance that governs the ownership, management and distribution of income from commercialization and licensing of discoveries and inventions or from copyrightable works.
