POLITICAL
SCIENCE MINOR
CATALOG DESCRIPTION
Political Science involves the systematic
study of theories, institutions, laws, structures, patterns, and relationships
that relate to citizenship, resource allocation, and power. The Political
Science minor at Texas A&M University -Texarkana complements existing
degree programs by providing students the opportunity to develop as
leaders. The Political Science minor will contribute to the development
of students’ analytical and critical thinking, written and oral communication,
and professional behavior skills. It will also give them an understanding
of cultural diversity and a global perspective.
The Political Science minor is a significant
enhancement to the bachelor’s degrees of students planning for active
citizenship and careers in public affairs, including public administration,
law, teaching, journalism, elected public service, campaign management,
international relations, and law enforcement. It will also prepare
students for further education in graduate or law school programs.
