The course awards college credit for paid or unpaid employment in a learning environment which will be structured to enable the intern to develop managerial skills including planning and organizing. The job may also involve development of non-managerial skills used by professionals in the industry concerned. |

| COURSE OBJECTIVES: |
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will have: 1.
Demonstrated the ability to put classroom theory into practice. 2.
A variety of work experiences which will help clarify goals
about future jobs, areas of specialization, and further study. 3. Experiences that will develop his/her communication and interpersonal skills. 4. Experiences to realize his/her own strengths and weaknesses in the workplace through constructive evaluation and effective leadership. |

| TYPE OF INSTRUCTION: | Instruction in this course will consist of individualized assistance by the employment supervisor and the professor. Initially, the intern will complete the internship documents provided by the professor and include an internship plan including appropriate objectives and goals and performance timelines. The intern will work under the close guidance of a specified employment supervisor who is responsible for training the intern and reporting, through provided forms, the intern's performance during the program. The intern will keep a journal of performance activities documenting on-the-job experiences and detailing the quality and quantity of information and procedures learned. The cumulative contents of the journal will be submitted to the professor at the end of each month vie e-mail as a MS Word attachment. | |||||
| EVALUATION AND GRADE DETERMINATION: | As part of the learning experience, the student intern will be evaluated by both the employment and faculty supervisors. A grade will be assigned based on the supervising professor's evaluation of meetings with the intern (content and adherence to schedule), reports from the intern detailing the quality and quantity of information and procedures learned, the quality of the intern's journal documenting on-the-job experiences, reports from the employment supervisor, and other criteria specified on the application form. At the completion of the course, the supervision professor will assign a grade. | |||||
