CATALOG DESCRIPTION:

This course allows students to research topics of current issues in management that are of interest to them.  The topics may be of a legal, theoretical, or application nature.

PREREQUISITES: None specified.
COURSE TEXT:

None required.

Blue Arrow Recommended writing style reference (should be available at locations such as the TC Bookstore, Walden Books or Books-A-Million.):  "A Pocket Style Manual", 3rd ed, Diane Hacker, Bedford/St. Martin, Boston & New York.

After topic assignments are made, appropriate research will be conducted through Internet access, library resources, and other sources as deemed appropriate.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will know:

1. The current thought concerning their selected management topics.

2. The current application of their selected management topics. 

3. The support and criticism of their selected management topics.

TYPE OF INSTRUCTION:

The course will involve professor supervised research and presentation of an approved management topic in the following sequence:  

1. Topic proposal submitted to the professor for approval.        

2. Appropriate research of topic.

3. Submit article critiques (not to exceed two double-spaced pages) to the professor via e-mail MS-Word attachment.  Critiques will be discussed in class according to the schedule below. 

4. Preparation of written report. Submit completed written report to the professor via e-mail as a MS-Word attachment. Professor will critique submitted report and offer edited report may be resubmitted once for final grading.  

5. Oral presentation of report to the class.  

Students may work alone or in approved pairs.  

EVALUATION:

Article Critiques:  Students will be evaluated on the quality of two submitted critiques of articles related to your research topic. 

Written Report: Students will be evaluated on the quality of a submitted written report of their major research topic.  

Class Presentation: Students will be evaluated on the quality of a class presentation of their final report.

GRADING SCALE:
Two 50 Point Article Critiques: 0-100 points
Written Report Score: 0-100 points
Presentation of report to class: 0-100 points
Maximum Points Available: 300
Blue Arrow A=270 or more points Blue Arrow D=180-209 points
Blue Arrow B=240-269 points Blue Arrow F=below 180 points
Blue Arrow C=210-239 points
