TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-TEXARKANA UNIVERSITY RULES 11.07.99.H1 Award of Honorary Degrees February 22, 2005 Supplements System Policy 11.07 ________________________________________________________________________ 1.0 GENERAL Pursuant to System Policy 11.07 this rule provides specific guidance for the granting of honorary degrees by A&M–Texarkana. 2.0 PROCEDURES 2.1 The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) will appoint a Recommendation Committee (the "Committee"). The Committee will consist of the Dean of Graduate Studies and Research, at least two full professors, and such other faculty as the VPAA may deem appropriate. In no event will the Committee have more than five (5) members. The VPAA selects the committee chair. 2.2 Recommendations for
honorary degrees will be made by the faculty, the administration, or members of
the Board of Regents. To initiate the process, a letter of nomination, the
nominee’s vitae, and any other supporting materials must be sent to the VPAA.
