  • Fast track, high quality, intense certification program
  • One year, beginning each summer
  • Paid internship as Teacher of Record in a school district
  • Hours may count toward a master's degree
  • Applicants MUST have bachelor's degree
  • Choice of Online or University Based Coursework

To be considered Highly Qualified and eligible for employment in a Texas public school, you must:

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher
  • Enroll in an SBEC approved Alternative Certification Program
  • Demonstrate mastery of the content
  • Take and pass the content area TExES (this is the ONLY way to demonstrate mastery for grades EC-4)

          OR

  • Have the equivalent of a major in the content area to be taught
  • 24 sch with 12 sch of Upper Division (Junior/Senior level) coursework
