Alternative Teacher Certification Program
Fast track, high quality, intense certification program
- One year, beginning each summer
- Paid internship as Teacher of Record in a school district
- Hours may count toward a master's degree
- Applicants MUST have bachelor's degree
- Choice of Online or University Based Coursework
New Certifications Now Offered
To be considered Highly Qualified and eligible for employment in a Texas public school, you must:
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree or higher
- Enroll in an SBEC approved Alternative Certification Program
- Demonstrate mastery of the content
- Take and pass the content area TExES (this is the ONLY way to demonstrate mastery for grades EC-6)
OR
- Have the equivalent of a major in the content area to be taught
- 24 sch with 12 sch of Upper Division (Junior/Senior level) coursework
