Intern Checklist and Deadlines

  • Very Important: 
  • Most communication will be conducted by email.  It is imperative that the ACP Office always have your current email address. Check your email daily.
  • Review the Alternative Certification Program website and become familiar with it.  http://www.tamut.edu/altteach 
 For Interns Only    (You are considered an intern once you are admitted into the Alternative Certification Program-ACP and have secured employment as teacher of record.)

 

 What are the steps after securing employment?

Step 1: The Intern will:

Provide a signed contract of employment with an accredited and/or approved Texas public or private school to the Alternative Certification (ACP) Office.

 Step 2:  The Intern will:

Ensure that school district official completes and returns “Statement of Eligibility” to the ACP Office.  The Statement of Eligibility may be faxed, mailed or scanned and emailed. For additional information, click here.

Step 3:  The ACP Office will:

After receipt of school district contract, ACP Office will provide to Intern a contract between A&M-Texarkana ACP, Applicant and Employing School District that includes Payroll Deduction.

Step 4:  The Intern will:

Sign A&M contract, hand deliver to employing district for signatures and return to ACP Office by August 1st.

Step 5:  The Intern will:

Complete the electronic “Intern Information Sheet”  It is intern’s responsibility to contact your principal for mentor information.  It is extremely urgent that we receive this information as soon as possible.

Step 6:  The Intern will:

Provide a School Calendar (This will assist your Liaison in planning Intern visits.)

Provide a School Class Schedule (This will assist your Liaison in planning Intern visits.)

Provide your school email address.

Step 7:  The Intern will:

Check “Calendar of Events” on ACP Website for date, time and location of mandatory ACP Orientation for Interns and Mentors and notify mentor of details. The ACP Office will be in contact with your mentor once we obtain the mentor’s contact information on the “Intern Information Sheet.”

Step 8:  The Intern will:

Attend mandatory ACP Intern Orientation.  Check “Calendar of Events” on ACP Website for date, time and location.  (The ACP will email additional information.)
