Standard Certificate
When you have met all of the following requirements, you may apply for a Standard Texas Teacher Certification.  (Please see Final Completion Checklist for additional information.)

• Completion of required coursework with an overall GPA of at least a 3.0 GPA and no grade less than a “C”
• Participation in all A&M-Texarkana ACP program course requirements.
• Passing scores on all required certification exams
• Satisfactory completion of both internship semesters and submission of required documentation to the A&M-Texarkana ACP office
• 6 A&M-Texarkana ACP “Field Supervisor (Liaison) Observation” forms
• 6 each “Cooperating (Mentor)Teacher Observation” and “Intern Observation” forms
• PDAS evaluation

To apply for Texas Standard Teacher Certification, access the following Texas Education Agency (TEA) website:  www.tea.state.tx.us  Select “Educator Certification,” then “Educator LOGIN/ACCOUNT SET UP.”  You should already have a user name and password.  Log in and follow the instructions to apply for certification through Texas A&M University – Texarkana Alternative Certification Program.  Pay the remittance fee.

Notify Sara Lawrence at sara.lawrence@tamut.edu by e-mail once you have completed the certification application.  We will check your records to verify that you have met all requirements.  If everything is in place, we will recommend you to the Teacher Certification Office for certification.  If not, we will notify you of those requirements and/or documents that need to be completed or submitted.  If you have not completed all requirements by the time your Probationary Certificate expires, you may request an extension for a second year by completing the online application and sending the fee to TEA.  Please call our office well before the expiration date for information regarding the renewal of your Probationary Certificate.
