Highlights
The TExES Teacher Certification exam consists of two tests:
- Content (Teaching Field/Specialization)
- PPR (Pedagogy and Professional Responsibility)
When do I take Content test?
Are you an applicant?
Yes – Continue to # 1.
1. Do you have a baccalaureate degree?
Yes – Then you may register for the content test under the testing option: Pre-Admission Content Tests - PACT. You will do this prior to applying to the Alternative Certification Program.
No – Continue to # 2.
2. Are you an applicant currently enrolled in and expecting to complete the courses and other requirements for obtaining a baccalaureate degree at the end of the semester in which admission to the program is sought?
Yes - Contact the ACP Office for information.

When do I take PPR test?
Are you are an Intern?
1. Have you been officially accepted into Alternative Certification Program and are you employed?
Yes – Continue to #2.
2. Have you met the following requirements?
a. Passed TExES Content test
b. Satisfactory completed one semester of ACP Internship
Yes - The ACP office will notify you via email when you are eligible to register. Interns will normally take the PPR Test in the spring semester of their ACP Internship.
Where/when are tests given? All tests are available by paper. Many content and PPR tests are available by both paper and computer.
Paper Administered Tests are given every 3 to 4 months in Texarkana, Mt. Pleasant and other designated locations. LocationsTest Dates
