Program Description and Curriculum

The Bachelor of Applied Arts and Sciences (BAAS) is a 120 semester credit hour (SCH) degree program that recognizes and values occupational learning. BAAS recognizes learning acquired in a career, the military, or a technical degree program transferred from the community college. The program is designed to facilitate degree completion by accepting several forms of nontraditional /occupational education. The major of the program, Applied Arts and Sciences, permits students to select a track that can incorporate one or more subject areas. The program is comprised of the following:

How do you get started?

All students enter the program through AAS390: Psychology of Work. For those applying for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA), this course will coach you through the process of writing and compiling a portfolio that demonstrates career/technical knowledge. For students transferring the Applied Associate's degree, no portfolio is required but valuable career development information and career assessments are addressed in the course. Although each student will have a preliminary plan of study to follow, individuals applying for PLA will not receive a final, official degree plan until the portfolio is submitted and assessed. Portfolios are due at the end of AAS 390 and the process of evaluation takes about six weeks; a fee of $70.00 is required for portfolio evaluation.
