UNDERGRADUATE CURRICULUM COMMITTEE

GUIDELINES

The steps listed below pertain specifically to course syllabi. However, they may be used for other items as well.

Five Steps to Follow For Approval of a Course Syllabus
Develop syllabus (preferably at least a semester before offering course) in consultation with other members of your Department or College.

Circulate syllabus to Departmental Faculty.  Place syllabus on agenda for Departmental meeting for vote from members.  If vote is favorable, continue to 3.  If vote is not favorable, discuss with Department for possible revision and resubmission.

Complete paperwork using correct form (Course Inventory Add/Reinstate Form)and request your Dean to sign off.  See http://www.tamut.edu/admissions/Forms/courseinvaddreinstate.pdf for the Course Inventory Add/Reinstate form.

Faculty member submits completed Course Inventory Add/Reinstate Form and syllabus to Chairperson of Curriculum Committee ten days prior to scheduled Curriculum Committee meeting.  He/she will place syllabus on agenda for next meeting for a vote by the Committee.  Please attend the meeting or at least be available if the Committee has any questions.  Your syllabus may be tabled if the Committee is unable to receive answers to questions.

When approved by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the syllabus is forwarded to the Registrar for inclusion in the University Catalog.
