Called to Order:           1:30 p.m.

1.         Approval of March 8, 2001 minutes.  Future changes will be coming.  Motion to approve was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

2.         MIS course title changes:

MIS 360: from “Management Information Systems” to “Essentials of Management Information Systems”.

MIS 470: from “Advanced Database Applications Development” to “Object-Oriented Programming I”.

MIS 332: from “Advanced Spreadsheet Applications” to “VBA Programming with Excel”.

MIS 430: from “Navigation of the Internet” to Web Page Development with VBScrip”. Motion to approve was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

3.         Drop “3SCH in Introductory Speech” as a prerequisite for GBUS 380: Business Communications.  Motion to approve was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

4.         FIN course title changes:

            FIN 484: from “Financial Markets and Institutions” to “Financial Institutions Management”.

            FIN 325: from “Money and Banking” to “Money, Banking, and Financial Markets”.

            Motion to approve was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

5.         Drop MIS 301: “Microcomputer in Business” as a Business Administration Core requirement for MIS Majors.  (Add an “*” to MIS 301 in the Business Administration Core in the catalog and degree plans stating “not required for MIS Majors”.  Motion to approve with recommended changes was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

6.         Drop MIS 303: “Management of Computer Operating Systems and 3 SCH of Upper-division MIS Electives as requirements for MIS Majors.  Add MIS 473: “Internetworking LANs”, MIS 367: “Software Engineering with COBOL”, and MIS 350: “Enterprise Operations Management as requirements for MIS Majors”.  Motion to approve with recommended changes was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

7.         New MIS Course: MIS 367: “Software Engineering With COBOL.”  Motion to approve with recommended changes was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

8.         New MIS Course: MIS 350: “Enterprise Operations Management”.  Motion to approve with recommended changes was made by Jane Hastings, seconded by Art Simonson.  The motion was passed.

9.         Removing PSY 320: “Psychology of Interpersonal Interactions” and ENG 333: “Advanced Composition” as requirements for Business Majors.  It was recommended this item was tabled until Dean Ntoko is at TAMU-T and able to review this request.  Charles McDonald withdrew this request and will reintroduce it at a future date.

10.       Old Business.  There was no old business to discuss.

11.       New Business.  It was recommended that the new catalog separate the 42 SCH of General Education required of all students from the additional 18 to 20 SCH required by the various department.

Next meeting will be April 19, 2001 at 1:30 p.m.
