 1.        Agenda

2.        Meeting called to order at 11:03 AM by Dr. Racheotes. 

3.        Dr. Gandy moved, seconded by Dr. Beason to approve minutes from previous meeting May 13, 2009. Motion passed.

4.        Dr. Brumm moved, seconded by Dr. Beason to approve Course Inventory Add/Reinstate: BSC 440 Vertebrate Biology (McCallum). Motion was made to add BSC 440 to the course inventory. The following recommendations were made: 1) On the cover page, under Justification, the sentence should read “This course is replacing (1) two courses (mammalogy & ichthyology) in the curriculum and provide a more comprehensive education of the subphylum vertebrata, (2) to serve more diverse sectors of the student body of the program. 2) On the course syllabus, change the semester credit hours from 4 SCH to 3 SCH. 3) Under V. Required Textbooks/Resources, the sentence should read “(You may purchase this as a used textbook for $80 from an online book store or access for free online at http://www.amphibiaweb.com.). Motion passed with corrections.

5.        Dr. Beason moved, seconded by Dr. Fowler to approve Changes to Existing Undergraduate Program: Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-4 Generalist Teacher Certification (Ballard). Motion was made to delete the Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-4 Generalist Teacher Certification program. Motion passed.

6.        Dr. Beason moved, seconded by Dr. Fowler to approve Add New Undergraduate Program: Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies with EC-6 Generalist Teacher Certification, English as a Second Language Supplemental Certification and Optional EC-12 Special Education Supplemental Certification (Ballard).  Motion passed.

7.        Dr. Brumm moved, seconded by Dr. Beason to approve Course Inventory Add/Reinstate: CHEM 102 (CHEM 1312) Chemistry II (Wagy). Motion was made to add CHEM 102 to the course inventory. The following recommendations were made: 1) On the cover page, under Course Prefix and Number, change CHEM 1312 to CHEM 1412. 2) Also on the cover page, change the SCH Value from 3 to 4. 3) On the course syllabus on I. Course Number:, change CHEM 1312 to CHEM 1412. 4) On the course syllabus on II. Credits:, change 3 SCH to 4 SCH. Motion passed with corrections.

8         Dr. Kincaid moved, seconded by Dr. Brumm to approve Course Inventory Add/Reinstate: BSC 102 (BIOL 1307) Biology II (Wagy). Motion was made to add BSC 102 to the course inventory. The following recommendations were made: 1) On the cover page, under Course Prefix and Number, change BIOL 1307 to BIOL 1407. 2) Also on the cover page, change the SCH Value from 3 to 4. 3) On the course syllabus on I. Course Number:, change BIOL 1307 to BIOL 1407. 4) On the course syllabus on IV. Course Description:, change BIOL 1307 to BIOL 1407. Motion passed with corrections.

10.       New Business:            Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Guidelines – After a brief discussion, it was decided to recommend to the VPAA the revisions of the elected representatives as follows:

One representative from: College of Business, College of Education, College of Health and Behavioral Sciences, College of Liberal Arts and College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. A representative from the Faculty Senate will be elected by the Senate.

Additionally, it was recommended that the submission of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Guidelines be the first agenda item for the September 2009 meeting.
