Absent: Anson Godfrey 1. Agenda 2. Meeting called to order by Dr. Racheotes. Welcoming of new members. Discussion of responsibilities for Curriculum Committee members and Recording Secretary. 3. Dr. Garick moved, second by Dr. Owen to approve minutes from previous meeting (May 11, 2005). 4. Dr. Racheotes stated that the first item on the agenda is being withdrawn from the agenda per Dr. Bugh. PSCI 490: Political Internship. (Bugh) 5. Dr. Garick moved, second by Dr. Owen to approve Course Inventory Deletion of MATH 436: Introductory Analysis. (Simonson). 6. Dr. Garick moved, second by Dr. Laird to approve Course Inventory Deletion of the following items: (Stripling) ED 450: Elem/Mid School Mgt Tchg St. ED 451: Elem/Mid School Curriculum ED 452: See Clsrom Mgt/Tchg Strat ED 453: Curr Secondary School ED 456: Second Language Acquisition ED 458: Methods of Teaching ESL 7. Dr. Green moved, second by Dr. Laird to approve Course Inventory Deletion of: ENG 333: Advanced Composition (Davis) ENG 412: Shakespeare through Performance (Davis) 8. Dr. Laird moved, second by Dr. Garick to approve Course Inventory Deletion of RDG 345: Practicum in Reading. (Nutter). 9. Dr. Laird moved, second by Dr. Garick to approve Course Inventory Deletion of: SPED 412: Developmental Disabilities (Beason) SPED 419: Survey of Services for Individuals with Disabilities (Beason) 10. Dr. Laird moved, second by Dr. Garick to approve Course Inventory Deletion of: Art 300: Modern Art. (Hargus) pending the change of the Justification on the Course Inventory Deletion form and submitted for signatures. The correct Justification should state “ART 369 is replacing ART 300 and no intention of offering ART 300 in the future”. 11. Dr. Owen moved, second by Dr. Green to approve Course Inventory Deletions of: BSC 313: Molecular Biolgoy BSC 315: Functional Neuroanatomy BSC 409: Comparative Animal Physiology BSC 497: Special Topics PHYS 302: Astronomy is approved pending the change of the Justification on the Course Inventory Deletion form and submitted for signatures. The correct Justification should state Program curriculum alignment. Strike 2 sentences 1) “This was a cost savings for the university” and 2) “Streamline course offerings.” 12. Dr. Garick moved, second by Dr. Brumm to approve Changes to Existing Undergraduate Program – BS in English, Certification English Language Arts & Reading 4-8. Eliminate English 335: Theories of Composition (Davis) pending changing the Justification to “This course is no longer required for certification”. 13. Item tabled for further information – Changes to Existing Undergraduate Program BS in English, Certification English Language Arts Reading 8-12. (Davis) Committee requested that Kristi Johnson, Gaynell Green, and Doris Davis to meet and make changes in justification with parallel wording. 14. Item tabled for further information needed– Changes to Existing Undergraduate Program BS in English, Certification English Language Arts & Reading 4-8. (Davis) Committee requested that Kristi Johnson, Gaynell Green, and Doris Davis to meet and make changes in justification with parallel wording. 13. Item tabled for further information needed - Changes to Existing Undergraduate Program: BS in English, Certification English Language Arts & Reading 8-12 (Davis) Committee requested that Kristi Johnson, Gaynell Green, and Doris Davis to meet and make changes in justification with parallel wording. 14. Dr. Brumm moved, second by Dr. Garick to approve Course Inventory Deletion of: PSY 301: APA Writing Style (Racheotes) 13. Dr. Garick moved, second by Dr. Laird to approve Course Inventory Deletion of: CJ 425: Cybercrimes. (Okereke). 15. Dr. Laird moved, second by Dr. Green to approve Course Inventory Deletion of: ED 469: Senior Seminar. (Fortenberry). 16. Dr. Garick moved, second by Dr. Owen to approve Course Inventory Deletion of: SOC 333: Marriage and Family. (Okereke) 17. Other Business: Items submitted by the College of Business were submitted late and will be resubmitted at next Undergraduate Curriculum Committee Meeting. 18.
