1.         Agenda

2.         Meeting called to order at 10:04 AM by Dr. Racheotes.

3.         Dr. Beason moved, seconded by Dr. Brumm to approve minutes from previous meeting September 16, 2009.  Motion passed with corrections.

4.         Dr. Brumm moved, seconded by Dr. Beason to approve Change of previously adopted core curriculum course names to reflect the same title as in the Lower-Division Course Guide Manual (Edwards). Motion was to revise the core curriculum course titles that were previously approved by the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee at the May 2009 meeting to align with The Texas Coordinating Board course titles. Motion passed.

5.         Dr. Wagy moved, seconded by Dr. Govindaswamy to approve Changes to Existing Undergraduate Program: Political Science (Bugh). Motion was made to delete PSCI 395 and the PSCI 310/PSCI 320 option; delete PSCI 440 and PSCI 444 from the list of 12 SCH required course choices; Add PSCI 320, PSCI 340, PSCI 341, PSCI 350, PSCI 410 and PSCI 490 to the list of 12 SCH required course choices. The changes in the Political Science program supports the University’s mission and institutional goals, and the mission of the College of Education and Liberal Arts. They also correspond with the American Political Science Association’s recommendations for increasing student enrollment, recognizing the needs of minority students, and supporting student learning and success. Motion passed.

6.         Changes to Existing Undergraduate Program: BSIS EC-6 Bilingual Generalist (Rincon). Item was withdrawn from the agenda. Withdrawn.

7.         Course Changes: GBUS 430 The Culture of Mexico (Bashaw). Item was withdrawn from the agenda. Withdrawn.

8.         Course Changes: GBUS 435 The Economy of Mexico (Bashaw). Item was withdrawn from the agenda. Withdrawn.

9.         Dr. Brumm moved, seconded by Dr. Beason to approve Course Changes: Change the prefix of courses and prerequisites from BSC to BIOL (Allard). Motion passed.

10.       Dr. Cruz-Cano moved, seconded by Dr. Govindaswamy to approve Course Changes: EE 470 Digital Design using VHDL (Lala). The course was thought not to be in the course inventory however, further investigation revealed that EE 470 is in fact in the course inventory thus only a syllabus needs to be provided to approve course changes. Dr. Wagy moved, seconded by Dr. Brumm to table this item.  Motion Tabled.

11.       Dr. Cruz-Cano moved, seconded by Dr. Brumm to approve Course Inventory Add/Reinstate: EE 320 Circuit Laboratory (Laddomada). Motion was made to add EE 320 to the course inventory. Discussion ensued and was decided to table this item for the following reasons. 1) Need clarification of the prerequisite EE 220 2) Can the lab be taken with concurrent enrollment and 3) The Student Learner Outcomes on the syllabus need to be measurable. Dr. Wagy moved, seconded by Dr. Beason to table this item.  Motion Tabled.

12.       Dr. Cruz-Cano moved, seconded by Dr. Brumm to approve Course Inventory Add/Reinstate: EE 465 VLSI Design (Lala). Motion was made to add EE 465 to the course inventory. The following recommendation was made: 1) The Student Learner Outcomes are not measurable and need to be resubmitted. Motion passed as amended.

13.       Dr. Govindaswamy moved, seconded by Dr. Cruz-Cano to approve Course Inventory Add/Reinstate: EE 322 Digital Logic Laboratory (Lala). Motion was made to add EE 322 to the course inventory. The following recommendations were made: 1) On the course syllabus, change the Semester Credit Hours from 3 to 1. 2) The Student Learner Outcomes are not measurable as written. 3) Resubmit the cover page to reflect the correct course description. Motion passed as amended.
