3. University Rule 12.06.99 Post Tenure Review of Faculty

Minutes

1. Minutes were approved unanimously.

 2. Dr. Brumm presented the issues with changing from a Senate of the whole to an elected Senate. The current constitution is posted as a rule and in order to change, the rule must be amended or removed. Two options were presented for consideration: 1) retain the current system approved constitution, which would require maintaining a faculty of the whole ; or 2) remove the current rule and operate as an elected senate as voted in the constitution changes approved April 2005.

If the second option is chosen, three courses of action were presented for consideration:

1. Attempt to send the proposed constitution with an elected Senate forward as a rule

2. Develop a general rule (see attached draft option)

3. Have no rule

A called faculty senate meeting will be held to allow faculty who were not able to attend to participate in the discussion. Following this called meeting, the matter will be settled via a ballot vote at the business office.

3. A copy of the rule as received from the system office was distributed to faculty. Dr. Lotven provided some history on the document and answered questions. Faculty will provide feedback on the rule draft.
