Minutes of the meetings of November 17, 2003

Quorum established with 24 present.

Minutes of October 20 meeting approved.

Old Business:

Motion removed from table: that tenured faculty on full-time appointment be allowed the option to teach on a part-time or half-time appointment and retain tenure.  Moved by Dr. Kern, seconded by Dr. Davis, passed by a vote of 15 to 3 with 6 abstentions. 

New Business:

Dr. Glenda Ballard reported on tentative plans to offer the B.A.A.S. degree to specific groups of city employees in Garland, Texas.

Reports:

Dr. Doris Davis reported on work of the ad hoc Salary Equity Committee.

Dr. Garick reported on efforts of the University Affairs Committee to acquire banners and a mace for graduation ceremonies.

Announcements:

            Dr. Stripling requested proposals for Faculty Senate initiatives.
