Texas A&M University-Texarkana Office of Recruitment ‹Back

Texas A&M University-Texarkana offers a wide variety of scholarship opportunities through the Recruitment Office. Our commitment to students is to provide as many resources as we can to help fund your education. Our goal is to see students succeed.

All scholarships offered through our office are merit based and a few may require a copy of your tax return. These are based on academic achievement and leadership. The great thing about merit based scholarships is students do not have to fill out the FAFSA to apply. Also, students can apply for more than one scholarship, if they meet the criteria. However, students can contact the Financial Aid Office at www.tamut.edu or 903-223-3066 if they wish to apply for need based aid. Students are also encouraged to check with their college department for scholarships.

Requirements for All Merit Based Scholarships

The five main requirements for all scholarships are:

  • Complete an Admissions Application (Be sure to submit the bacterial meningitis form and the residency questionnaire)
  • Official transcripts from all colleges previously attended must be on file in Admissions by scholarship deadline
  • Must not be in default on any Title IV funds
  • Satisfy the THEA, if applicable
  • Complete the Scholarship Application by posted deadline

How to Apply

Applications are available on-line at www.tamut.edu/recruitment. Deadline dates vary so students should check the web at least once a month for updates. If you have any questions, contact the Scholarship Specialist at 903-223-1353.

Certain scholarships are available once a year while others are available by semester. If a scholarship is renewable or competitive, the student is responsible for re-applying each year/semester.

Deadlines for Scholarship Applications

Students applying for a scholarship(s) offered by semester should start checking on-line the semester before.

Students applying for scholarships offered by academic year can apply on-line from January 1st-April 1st of each year for the upcoming academic year.

All deadlines and applications can be found via web at www.tamut.edu/recruitment.

Maintaining Criteria/Repayment Penalty

Unless the individual scholarship policy states otherwise, in order for an academic scholarship recipient to retain any disbursement of his/her award, the student must maintain all criteria for the scholarship at least 2/3 of the scholarship award period (10 weeks) per regular semester (Fall through Spring) and at least 2/3 of the scholarship award period for summer terms. Should the student fail to meet all the criteria during this time, the student will be required to repay the scholarship award prior to the first class day of the next semester. The student must also satisfactorily complete the minimum number of hours required by the scholarship program each semester in order to receive any remaining scholarship funds for the subsequent semester.

Outstanding Financial Obligations

Students are responsible for paying all financial obligations owed to the university when due. Prior to the end of each semester or term each student should determine that all accounts are paid. Non-payment of any accounts will be entered on the student’s record and the Registrar’s Office will withhold transcripts, diplomas, and credits until the obligation is paid in full. In addition, students will be prohibited from registering for classes until full payment is made.

If you have a question about dropping course or your repayment amount, contact the Scholarship Specialist at 903-223-1353.
