Statement of Rationale for Judgment of Compliance

A&M-Texarkana publishes in the General Catalog admissions policies ¹ consistent with its mission. The mission statement of the institution relating to admissions states, “The mission of Texas A&M University-Texarkana (A&M-Texarkana) is to provide residents of Northeast Texas with the broadest possible access to quality educational opportunities, and services.”^2a Additionally, it states “It is our belief that higher education should be accessible for all qualified students, emphasizing the importance of cultural diversity in the learning environment.”^2b A&M-Texarkana practices open enrollment and pursues every means possible to provide for the access to the university to any person who desires to further their education. ^2a

Admission to the university does not assure admission to a graduate program for a degree. A&M Texarkana complies with HB 1641 which lists various factors that may be used in making an admissions decision for a graduate program. ^2b
