Statement of Rationale for Judgment of Compliance

A&M-Texarkana publishes in the General Catalog admissions policies 1 consistent with its mission. The mission statement of the institution relating to admissions states, “The mission of Texas A&M University-Texarkana (A&M-Texarkana) is to provide residents of Northeast Texas with the broadest possible access to quality educational opportunities, and services.”2a Additionally, it states “It is our belief that higher education should be accessible for all qualified students, emphasizing the importance of cultural diversity in the learning environment.”2b A&M-Texarkana practices open enrollment and pursues every means possible to provide for the access to the university to any person who desires to further their education. 2a

Admission to the university does not assure admission to a graduate program for a degree. A&M Texarkana complies with HB 1641 which lists various factors that may be used in making an admissions decision for a graduate program. 2b
