Criteria for Students to obtain Funding For Academic Conferences
Students seeking funding to present at conferences must submit a written letter of intent to travel to the Student Life Office by the posted deadlines. Deadline for submission of intent to travel is in the semester before the travel takes place.
Submission of Intent to travel deadlines are:
October 31 for Spring semester travel
March 31 for Summer semester Travel
July 31 for Fall semester travel
Proposals submitted prior to the deadline will receive priority consideration in funding. Proposals submitted after the deadline will be considered as funds are available.
Once the conference accepts the student’s presentation, the student must provide the Student Life Office with the following documentation at least 6 weeks before the conference or two weeks before the regular registration deadline: (we will not pay late registration fees)
1. Acceptance letter from conference;
2. Agenda of the planned trip, conference website and conference schedule;
3. A completed Application for Academic Conference Funding with supporting documents;
4. Registration paperwork must be on file in the Student Activities office;
5. The request for funding proposal must explain how the student and university will benefit from the event.
All information is required before funding can be processed and must be submitted a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the event to ensure adequate time for university to process and pay the conference expenses.
*Late requests will be denied unless there are extenuating circumstances.
*Funding from the university will cover conference registration, transportation expenses up to $350, and lodging at the GSA rates for the conference city.
