TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY-TEXARKANA ANNOUNCES STUDENT REFERENDUM ITEMS TO BE CONSIDERED BY STUDENT BODY
TEXARKANA, TX. February 5, 2010 – Texas A&M University-Texarkana students will soon have an opportunity to vote on two student referendum items. Voting will take place from 8 am Wednesday, February 10 to 5pm Thursday, February 11. Students can access the voting ballot by clicking on “Student Fee Referendum ” under the News & Events heading on the university’s home page at www.tamut.edu .
Referendum 1 - Student Center Fee
A $3 per semester hour fee for the operation and maintenance of the student areas at the University Center Building. The fees will be used for facilities, utilities, custodial and upkeep of facilities in the bookstore, dining facilities, fitness room, student game room, aerobic room, student post office and welcome center.
Referendum 2 - Fitness Center & Intramural Sports Fee
A proposed fee of $25 per semester ($12.50 for summer semester) to provide resources for the fitness center and intramural sports program. The fee will cover expenses for purchasing equipment for the fitness center and intramural games. The fee will provide maintenance of the fitness center, utilities, equipment and monetary compensation for student workers who staff the center and intramural programs.
