Chair's Report

        B. Mandy Spicer reported on "Bringing Hope Home". Eleven students from various clubs volunteered to serve at the dinner. In appreciation, the volunteers earned points for their club.
CSAB Reports
Brian Adams and Karah Gallagher represented TAMU-T at the Board of Regents and Senior Student Affairs Officers Meetings at College Station, TX. CSAB enjoyed tours of the Prairie View and College Station Campuses and were honored to have breakfast with Chancellor Graves. Brian Adams addressed the Board of Regents where he spoke about our students and activities at TAMU-T. Chancellor Graves indicated that prayer at the schools is permissible; therefore, Brain introduced the idea of having a moment of prayer or silence at each SAC meeting. Carl Greig voiced his concerns of having an open vote, so it was noted that SAC could voice their written opinion by using any of the suggestion boxes. Brian Adams made a motion to table the discussion until the next meeting. Karah Gallagher seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Committee Reports
        a) Activities committee: Jo Estes announced plans for the Pumpkin contest. A date for the next committee meeting was scheduled on October 16th at 1:45 p.m.
        b) Public Relations: Jennie McDuffie reported the results of the survey to poll what Halloween activities the clubs would be interest in. The results indicated that most clubs would submit a pumpkin for the pumpkin contest; however, the scary story contest was not accepted. A date for the next committee meeting was scheduled on October 25th at 1:30 p.m. c) Student Concerns: Jo Estes reported on three student concerns from the suggestion boxes. (1) A student complaint of mowing lawns during their lunch breaks, (2) people in the Eagle's nest are leaving a mess on the tables, and (3) students are concerned about the last assault on the TC campus. Leanne suggested purchasing whistle key chains, Viola and Jo will research prices. SAC discussed placing brochures about protection around the campus and presenting a safety class to pass out whistle key chains.
Student Activities Report
Sonya Jewell Reported that the leadership luncheon was on September 25, 2001. Twenty-five students attended the luncheon. The first prize "Spirit Stick" was earned by the Education Club. The second place was the MCA and the third place was the Sociology Club. The first place for the best table went to the MCA. Second place went to the Education Club and third place to the Accounting Club.
Old Business
       A. Phone in the Eagle's nest - Sandy Rogers is still looking into having a phone placed in the Eagle's nest.
        B. TV in clubroom and 108 - The TV has been installed and students are enjoying it.
        C. Condiments in Eagle's Nest - Viola Holley has contacted the Custom Foods Group, which provides the condiments, and the Custom Foods Group will make sure condiments are supplied and stocked in the food machine as required.
New Business
       A. Rules and stipulations on officers- Clubs who have problems with officers holding multiple positions should update their by-laws according to their needs. SAC reaffirmed their responsibility to encourage extra-curricular activities and overwhelmingly supported that this decision should remain with the individual and the club.
        B. Move Club bulletin boards to the second floor - This was discussed with Sandy and moving the bulletin boards to the 2nd floor would become a major renovation and it is not feasible. The bulletin boards are installed as permanent fixtures.
Upcoming Events
       A. October Fest: Wednesday, October 31 - Pumpkins will be submitted on October 29. Judging will be on October 31, 2001. There should be only one entry per club.
        B. Ring Ceremony: Thursday, November 1 at 5:30. SAC Members need to report at 4:30 to host. (Reminder: SAC members must call Sonya Jewell or Mandy Spicer if they are unable to attend any event.)
Announcements / Other Business
      A. Race for the Cure - The deadline for groups to join was September 28, 2001; however, individual can still sign up to participate.
Adjournment
A motion was made to adjourn the meeting at 5:48, by Brian Adams, seconded by Jo Estes. The motion carried.
