Catalog Description: Students read about 45 short stories and engage in online discussions via WebCT. Course work includes two examinations at approved testing centers (at TAMU-T, NTCC, or other sites arranged by the student and approved by the instructor), two analytical essays regarding stories from the text, and a substantial portfolio documenting discussion participation. Discussions are largely time flexible, but each story discussion ends according to a posted schedule. Students must participate regularly throughout the course because it is impossible to make up missed discussions.
Orientation: Introductory activities conducted online at the beginning of the class serve to introduce students to the mechanics of the course. Students never meet together as an organized class.
