The purpose of University College is to specifically support first-year students and students with 30 SCH (semester credit hours) or less through developmental and intentional academic advising. In addition, University College also supports the success of all students by providing services in the following areas:
- Transition to A&M-Texarkana -- Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR)
- Learning support – 1 on 1 tutoring in the ASK Center
- Student Success Series – special topic workshops related to academic skills and student engagement
- Learning Communities – courses linked together to engage student
- Eagle Experience – leadership and service program for all students including coordination of two leadership courses in the Core Curriculum
- Common Reading Experience –opportunity for students to connect in and outside of the classroom. Our goal is for students to become sharper readers; to have a greater understanding of diversity, and to experience a world outside of the local communities we serve.
- Convocation – opportunity for the campus community to come together for an academic event Convocation sets the tone for the school year and celebrates new students entering A&M-Texarkana.
- Testing Center – complete placements needed for TSI, and other national recognized tests
