Health and Behavioral Science
The College of
Health & Behavioral Sciences offers the following degrees to
meet the diversified mental health needs of the region:
Master of
Counseling Psychology (M.S.): Licensed Professional
Counselor – Students with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology
or who meet the program’s prerequisites. Upon successful
completion of the degree requirements, students are eligible to
sit for the Licensed Professional Counselor’s exam (LPC).
Master of
Counseling Psychology (M.S.): Certified School
Counselor – Students with a bachelor’s degree who have
completed two (2) years of public school teaching and passed the
TEXES exam are eligible for this program. Upon successful
completion of the degree, the students may apply to the Texas
State Board for Teacher Certification to be certified as a
School Counselor.
Master of
Interdisciplinary Studies (M.S.I.S.) – Criminal Justice or
Psychology Emphasis: This degree is designed for
students with a bachelor’s degree who have a wide range of
interests & who wish to pursue a graduate degree with an
interdisciplinary focus. Twelve to eighteen (12-18) hours of
credit is taken in the area of concentration together with 6-12
hours in two other fields. A comprehensive written exam is
taken prior to graduation. |
