1 OCT This is an open book, open notes in-class exam. You may write the entire answer in class or submit a pre-written answer through any channel during or before class time. If you submit a type-written answer or an answer prepared outside of class, you may submit no more than five double-spaced pages (which is inclusive of appendices if you felt the urge to include any). If you submit the exam prior to class time, be sure to get some kind of receipt to confirm your submission.
If anything should go wrong with the current sale of the old THS campus, the school system might be left with no reasonable alternatives but to demolish several of the buildings. The Citizen's Committee, therefore, hopes that we can propose a viable alternative use for the campus buildings to have ready if a back-up plan is ever needed. Our concern isn't simply for the immediate future. It is possible that someone could convert the buildings to apparently useful purposes, based on sound analysis, only to find several years later that the buildings are no longer able to sustain a reasonable return on investment. Like the current school board, the new owner could someday be in a position in which there are no reasonable alternatives but to demolish the buildings to cut losses or to find someone else who is willing to take responsibility for the buildings. Write a report to discuss marketing environment issues that are important in this situation. Specifically, break your report into two parts to include short-term marketing environment issues and long-term marketing environment issues. Your report should be equally useful to our client in considering a back-up plan as well as to the investors who have apparently committed to investing in the campus and need to ensure financial viability into the future. When writing your report, be sure to consider issues that we have discussed in this class with regard to marketing factors, the situation of the old THS campus, report writing, facts and assumptions, and such. Although you may use any materials available to you, this is not a research project, and using more information than would already be available to someone who takes the exam in class will probably not help you. |
