Two emails from our client on the breakeven project: The first is the email that I had mentioned as being received just before posting the assignment, and the other was received the morning after class.

"When I called one contractor working on an estimate for me, I asked him if he could give me a 'ballpark' figure since he hadn't completed the more accurate estimate.  He said that he decided to do three different bids: low, mid, and high end.  Those figures were $550,000, $675,000, and $900,000."

and

"I just read the assignment.  It is actually to be four high end apts., each renting for between $1000 and $1500 per month.  Two of the apts. are going to be approximately 1,500 s.f. and the other two around 1,200 s.f. and all with a loft bedroom/study, adding further square footage."
