EXAM I
due by 10:00 PM Friday, 25 FEB 05
Five page double-spaced limit, no attachments.  Do not put your name on any of these pages; instead, include a cover sheet at the BACK of your submission with your name and section (Wed. eve. or Thurs. morn.).  Submit to Ms. Williams in the College of Business office during business hours or email as an MS Word attachment to: robert(dot)owen(at)tamut(dot)edu

Our class client, ED Ranch, has asked us to conduct a feasibility study.

Write a brief situation assessment that I could give to the client in this early stage of the project.  In this report, be sure to consider the various SBUs that might be associated with the ED Ranch; your primary attention, however, would be on those SBUs that are the target of our feasibility study.  Your situation assessment is limited to five double-spaced pages of text (no appendices or attachments permitted).  Since this is a brief, preliminary report after a single meeting with the client, it is inappropriate to be offering advice with regard to strategies and tactics.

Note that research beyond what would be available to you during an in-class exam will not be considered in evaluation and is not likely to be helpful.  You are simply writing a report that is structured from the perspective of our class discussions and based on our meeting with the client, the same as you might be doing if this was an in-class exam with a three hour time limit.  Although you are expected to be discussing our consulting project with other students, the report that you are writing for this exam is an individual project and is to be your own original work.

Also note that this is a very different assignment from our breakeven project.  Although the breakeven project includes a situation analysis, the issues discussed in that section of that report would only be those that are necessary for assessing breakeven feasibility.  In the present report, you are outlining a wider variety of marketing factors that are expected to be important to recommending strategy to the client in our final term project.  Additionally, note differences between the two assignments with regard to page limits and line spacing and with regard to attachments.
