4 AUG This is an open book, open notes in-class exam. You may write the entire answer in class or bring a pre-written answer to submit during this part of the class. The Texarkana Volunteer Center was established in May 1969 and in 1976 became a United Way agency. The Center connects people wishing to share their time with others. Its "Volunteer Opportunities" booklet lists 35 local not-for-profit agencies to which it can refer people who are able to donate time. Undergrad students in Dr. Owen's marketing class are working on ways to find people willing to volunteer as well as on ways to better meet the needs and wants of the not-for-profit organizations that are clients of the Texarkana Volunteer Center. Dr. Owen teaches that marketing in not-for-profit organizations is no different than marketing in for-profit organizations. Write a persuasive editorial to argue that Dr. Owen's perspective is not entirely correct with respect to marketing activities associated with organizations such as the Texarkana Volunteer Center. |
