EXAM 2, due by 9:00 AM, Wednesday, 4 AUG 04.
  1. Identify each page of your exam with a code - letters, numbers, or some combination - that would be known only to you.
  2. Begin the code with a "1-" if you are in the 12:30 section; begin the code with a "2-" if you are in the 5:30 section.
  3. On a separate cover sheet, list your name and this code so that these can be matched later in recording the grade.
  4. On the cover sheet, write "This exam represents my own work." Write your signature after this statement.
  5. Submit your exam with cover sheet to Ms. Williams in the College of Business office, room 225 (directly above our classroom).  Ms. Williams will tear off the cover sheet and store it separately. No exams can be accepted by email.

There are some who say that marketers exploit peoples' vulnerabilities, manipulating them to buy what they really don't need or want.  Choose one presentation from each of the three days of presentations in your assigned section (for three total presentations).  For each presentation, discuss issues that were raised in that presentation that could be used to argue that the above contention is true AND discuss issues from that same presentation that could be used to argue that the above contention is false.  That is, you are to find support for both sides of the issue.

Limit your essay to five double-spaced typewritten pages (I won't read anything after page five and appendices are not appropriate for this kind of question).  For each presentation that you use to raise arguments and counterarguments, use a header to clearly identify the date of the presentation, the name of the presentation, and the name of the the presenter.  Note that your answer must refer to presentations that were made in the section to which you are registered.  Note that issues of spelling, punctuation, sentence structure, and such are important considerations at the MBA level.
