CASE ASSIGNMENT 6
due date: Sunday, 17 JUL, 10:00 PM

Read the final Case Report assignment.

Submit this assignment through the WebCT email system, not to my normal school email address.  (This ensures that I receive it; regular email is not reliable.)  You are encouraged to do these weekly assignments on a word processor to help ensure proper spelling, punctuation, and such.  (These are issues in your grade.)  However, cut and paste from the word processor into your plain text email submission -- do not submit in a word processor format and do not submit as an attachment.

Cut and paste the following, what is between the lines, into your submission:

CASE ASSIGNMENT 6

YOUR NAME: _________________________________________________________

You should by now

  • have formulated a roughly acceptable problem statement
  • have formulated an initial rough answer to the client's problem
  • have formulated a rough outline of the final report
Pending my feedback on your outline, then, you are ready to start writing draft of your final report.  For many people, one of the toughest tasks is writing the first paragraph.  To make sure that you get this done, I am asking you to write this first paragraph for this final homework assignment.

In the space below, write the first introductory paragraph for you report.  This paragraph (as well as all others in your report) should be about five sentences (plus or minus one) and should be what you have listed as the first section in your outline.

Your paragraph must at least include the objectives of the client and the objectives of the report.

A good way to begin the paragraph is with a sentence or two that introduces the situation or problem ("Dr. and Mrs. Smith would like to . . .; Dr. Smith works as a . . . and Mrs. Smith is a . . .").

A good way to end the paragraph is with the sentence that states the objective of the report or perhaps with an additional sentence that summarizes the solution that you will be offering at the end of the report ("This analysis concludes with a recommendation that . . .").
