Downtown Terrell Project Links

The link list below is made up of information sources that I believe might be useful to us.  Check back often -- as I find online documents and websites that look like they might have some value and as our client gives us documents that can be posted publicly, I will add them to this list.

Note that you must be very careful if you cite statistics out of any consulting sorts of reports; you MUST cite original sources whenever possible.  E.g., cite US Census for population and demographics, not a chamber of commerce or real estate website.

  • the assignment

  • client-supplied documents

  • Google Maps

    • Google street map
      • Use zoom to go down to street level.

      • Add satellite view to see buildings, keep or remove street names.

      • Use picture view to do virtual drive through at street level.  Pan, tilt, and zoom to see building sides and fronts.  Note that pictures are a few years old; more buildings are now occupied and some buildings have changed tenants.

    • virtual drive through of downtown assembled from Google Maps pictures. (8.8 meg -- huge download size)

  • Business Inventory (added 13 JUL)
I used whitepages.com and some other reverse lookup services to compile a rough business inventory on Moore St.  Below is a spreadsheet with addresses and business names that include the Moore St. section that we were assigned and a few addresses beyond that area.  Below that are two text files of the raw information that I pulled from reverse lookup services.  These include peoples' names, some of which might be apartment tenants.  I transferred a name to the spreadsheet only if it appeared that it might be linked to a business that otherwise isn't evident; I otherwise don't know who might or might not be living downtown.  Keep watching for some photographs once I tie them to addresses.

Still to come: I'll try to find some time to add some audio to the virtual drive through movie to announce starting and stopping points and addresses.
