Reskilling Grant

Return to the Nest Header

Are you a Texas resident?
Have you previously attended college (after high school)?
Have you been out of college for at least six months?
Have you completed at least 50% of your degree program?

If you answered YES to ALL of these questions, you may qualify for up to $2,500 in grant money to go back to school!  To see if you’re eligible, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and the Reskilling Grant application.

Once the Financial Aid office receives your application and any required supporting documentation, your financial need will be calculated based on the federal methodology and cost of attendance, and you be notified of any financial aid for which you qualify.  If you still have unmet need after any gift aid (Pell grant, state/institutional grants, scholarships), you will be awarded up to the maximum allowable ($2,500/semester) required to meet your calculated financial need.

How do I know if I’ve completed at least 50% of my degree program?

If you don’t know if you’ve completed 50% of your degree, you can request to have your academic record reviewed by an advisor by emailing advising@tamut.edu with "Degree Audit for Reskilling Grant" in the subject line.  Please be sure to include your full name, student ID number (if you remember it), and the degree program in which you’re interested.  An advisor will review your academic record and reach out to you to discuss your options
