EL Showcase Participation Guidelines

Fall Showcase: November 21st 

To participate in EL Showcase, students may present a poster (recommended), multi-media or 5-minute presentation on November 21st. Students presenting posters or multi-media presentations must commit to displaying their presentations from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM on November 21st. We request all presenters make every effort to be present at lunch (12:00-1:00 p.m.) for student awards and EL Celebration. If this is not possible due to work commitments, for example, student should make arrangements with faculty member mentoring them on the presentation. Students are to contact their discipline faculty if interested in participating. 

There are 3 steps to participate in EL Showcase: 1) Contact faculty and Apply 2) Presentation Preparation and 3) Day of EL Showcase...Present!

STEP 1: Contact Faculty and Apply


STEP 2: Presentation Preparation

Students must work with designated faculty member to prepare presentation. The faculty member must approve final presentation prior to EL Showcase. 

Poster Presentations (recommended):

Students will present poster using EL Showcase template, which you will receive via email after submitting your application. Faculty member will advise student on formatting for poster based on standards in their discipline. Posters are due November 7th in the form of a pdf for printing, late submissions will not be printed by the University. In addition, students will type a reflection of their experience in the work based on LEAP rubric on integrative learning. Essentially, the reflection (printed on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet) should answer the questions: How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. deepen your understanding in your discipline? How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. support your vision of your future self? Student should set up poster and reflection in the afternoon on November 20th. They may take their work after the noon celebration on November 21st.

Digital Presentations:

Students may present a summary of their work or the work itself in 3-5 minutes. The digital presentation should be provided to the discipline contact by November 7th.  In addition, students will type a reflection of their experience in the work based on LEAP rubric on integrative learning. Essentially, the reflection (printed on 8 1/2 x 11 sheet) should answer the questions: How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. deepen your understanding in your discipline? How did your participation in the project, internship, etc. support your vision as your future self? You may email your reflection to angela.gideons@tamut.edu by November 14th.

STEP 3: DAY OF EL SHOWCASE! PRESENT!

November 21st - 8:00 - 9:00 AM 

All presenters are encouraged to be present and ready to explain their poster to the judges of the President's Choice Award from 8:00 - 9:00. Presenters are encouraged to be present as much as possible to answer questions throughout the day. Another award that will be given is the People's Choice Award, votes will be accepted up until the EL Celebration at 12 pm. *Honors posters will only be considered for these awards if they are registered as Connect 360 presenters and use the template. 

November 21st - 12:00 - 1:00 PM

Student awards and EL celebration will be presented. Refreshments provided.

Students may take down presentations between 1:00 - 2:00 PM.
