Doctoral Courses
Program is a 60 SCH Scholars of Practice program with four areas for completion:
- Education Leadership Content - 8 courses/ 24 SCH. Education Leadership courses are taught in cohort model. Topics include: Strategic management & change, education marketing & public relations, critical conversations & team building, applied instructional strategies, contemporary issues in educational leadership.
- Cognate Courses - 4 courses/12 SCH. A cognate is a block of courses connecting to Education Leadership and candidate's professional goals. Competency-based and/or transfer credit available. Eligible candidates may earn superintendent certification at A&M-Texarkana as cognate area. Cognate may be completed before or after Education Leadership cohort courses. - Research Tools Courses - 4 courses/ 12 SCH. Courses prepare doctoral candidates for dissertation research.
- Dissertation hours - 12 SCH required. Doctoral candidates complete a dissertation upon successful completion of coursework (maintain 3.0 GPA with no grade below a "C") and after they have passed a written comprehensive examination.
