Master of Education in Education Leadership with Principal Certification

The department of Education Leadership is proud to offer a 30-hour Master of Education in Education Leadership.  This degree provides the foundation for the skills and knowledge required to pass the TExES Certification Examination for Principals.  For students already holding a master's degree in education (or a related field), A&M-Texarkana offers a Principal Certification program consisting of 21 hours of coursework designed to prepare students to pass the TExES Certification Examination for Principals.  New cohorts begin in the fall.  For information regarding either program, contact Dr. Sara Lawrence at (903) 223-3095 sara.lawrence@tamut.edu

**Courses required for principal certification, must be taken in sequence starting in summer. Candidate may take other EDLD courses when offered.

Admission Process

Candidates seeking a Master's degree and principal certification must apply to 1) Principal Program and 2) Texas A&M University - Texarkana. Please contact susan.gleason@tamut.edu or call 903/223-3129 if you have questions about the admissions process.  

Principal Program:
To apply to program for principal certifiction, please apply through our Tk20 System: https://tamut.tk20.com.  This application is free, and does not require you to pay any additional fees. When completing this application, applicants must submit Texas Teaching Certification and Teacher Service Records. If you have any questions, please contact our certification coordinator, katheryn.hartshorn@tamut.edu or call 903/223-3048. NOTE: Upon receipt of admission, candidates must formally accept admission on Tk20. 

University/Graduate Studies Application:

To apply to A&M-Texarkana, go to Office of Graduate Studies website. Click on link, "Apply".  Select term you plan to begin courses and select "Education Leadership - Master's of Education". There is a $30 processing fee. When asked for a concentration, select "Principal certification."

  1. Attach Resume/CV as indicated on application.
  2. Submit official scores for one of the following exams (<5 years). Graduate Record Examination (GRE) – Verbal & Quantitative Reasoning and Analytical Writing.Miller's Analogy Test (MAT)
  3. Have all official transcripts from higher education institutions attended by applicant sent to:Texas A&M University-Texarkana
