
Shawn
Shawn is a Northeast Texas native, was born in Paris, TX. He went to high school at Linden-Kildare High before receiving a Bachelor of Science in Addiction Studies at Northwestern State University of Louisiana. Shawn is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor and Peer Recovery Support Specialist in the State of Arkansas. He has been coordinating the Intensive Outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment Program for Southwest Arkansas Counseling & Mental Health Center, INC. for over 7 years.
He is currently working on a Master of Social Work degree at Texas A&M University- Texarkana. He will be in the first cohort set to graduate in May 2022. Shawn is a member of the Social Work Student Association (SWSA) at TAMUT. Since starting in the helping field, Shawn has worked in providing support services to the community, substance abuse education at the Sevier County Jail, and has worked in the Drug and Alcohol Safety Education Program in Texarkana. He is currently completing his internship providing clinical services at the Community Mental Health in DeQueen, AR.
Shawn will be celebrating ten years of marriage with his wife, Becky, this year. They have four children between the two of them and have three grandchildren. He enjoys time with the grandbabies, working on his 1978 Chevy C-10 hot rod, and riding ATVs. Shawn’s goals are becoming a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and continue working in community mental health providing clinical services.
