ALEKS

ALEKS is an online placement assessment, not a test. The difference is that a placement assessment is designed to identify if you are prepared for a specific science, technology, engineering and/or mathematics courses/programs at A&M-Texarkana. Furthermore, the placement assessment offers an accurate measure of your current mathematical skills so that you will be successful in your course(s).  The most important thing is that you take the assessment seriously and give it an honest effort so that the assessment truly reflects your level of knowledge and math preparedness.

ALEKS adaptive system that covers a broad spectrum of mathematics topics. The length of the placement assessment for A&M-Texarkana is two (2) hours and can be up to 30 questions. After the Placement Assessment, a targeted Prep and Learning module is available for you to review and learn material so that you can improve placement and eventual course outcomes.  You have two (2) additional opportunities to improve your placement assessment if you choose.

On August 10, 2020, the Testing Center will be open for face-to-face exam administration ONLY for A&M-Texarkana students.  We will be operating at less than 50% capacity, and appointments are MANDATORY.  For the health and safety of the staff and other examinees, we ask that if you are ill or have been exposed to COVID-19 that you do not schedule an appointment OR that you cancel or reschedule your existing testing appointment by calling the Testing Center directly.

The Testing Center is taking extra precautions by sanitizing workstations between each examinee and will be practicing social distancing.  Please review COVID-19 Student Guide for campus guidelines.
