Veterans Services

Welcome Home!  You have served your country, now let us serve you.  Whether you are Active Duty, Reserve, National Guard, a Veteran, or a family member, we thank you for your service to our nation and promise to make your experience at Texas A&M University-Texarkana a rewarding one.

Our Veteran Services Staff is prepared to help you achieve your academic goals as well as facilitate your transition from military to civilian life.  Earning a coveted degree from Texas A&M University-Texarkana will prove to be a valuable asset in securing civilian employment.

The Veteran Services Center serves as your One Stop Shop for coordination of all your academic activities, progress, and needs.  The office is staffed by a full time employee trained as a VA School Certifying Official and will help you connect with any services required on campus. The center is also staffed by VA Work Study students who are also trained to help you interface with all the services on campus.

Enrollment is certified to the appropriate agency upon request of the student. Any student enrolled at A&M-Texarkana who is eligible for VA Educational Benefits, State of Texas military benefits, or DOD Tuition Assistance should notify us when he or she wishes to be certified using the Request for Certification form.

A&M-Texarkana is a VA Yellow Ribbon School (click on link for information).  Contact the Veteran Services Center to determine eligibility and request use of the Yellow Ribbon program.

Use of Financial Aid with Veteran Benefits

Financial aid can be used concurrently with VA and State of Texas veteran education benefits, as well as DOD Tuition Assistance.  The Veteran Services Center staff is prepared to assist you in navigating the process in applying for financial aid.  One-on-one assistance is available, both, in the Veteran Services Center and the Financial Aid Office to help you understand the various types of aid potentially available to help you finance your education. Visit our Financial Aid webpage for detailed information (click here).

In order to receive financial aid, all students must:

  • Compete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (www.fafsa.ed.gov) and list Texas A&M University Texarkana (school code 031703) on their FAFSA.
  • All students will need a FSA ID (www.fsaid.ed.gov) to complete a FAFSA.  For eligibility requirements, please click here.
  • For the upcoming school year (fall term through summer term), the FAFSA opens on October 1st so students should aim to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible after this date.
  • To be considered for the maximum opportunity for various types of grants and other aid, students need to complete the FAFSA and submit all required financial aid documents for the award year by the Priority Deadline, January 15th.

Once you have submitted your FAFSA, review your ACE Mail frequently as any additional requirements/information needed by the Financial Aid Office to complete the processing of your application will be sent to you via email.

Estimating Cost of Attendance:
