How will my child get around campus?
Walking from class to class usually does not take more than 10 minutes, and the Northeast Texas weather is usually mild.
Campus buildings, including the new residence hall, are close together, which means students save time walking from building to building, rather than driving.
Will my child be OK in a residence facility?
Absolutely!
With our brand new state of the art residence hall, your child will be sure to adjust quickly to campus life. With many amenities unavailable in most university freshman residence halls, Bringle Lake will be a home away from home. Bringle Lake Village
Residence assistants are on staff at Bringle Lake Village to help students get accustomed to living on campus.
Where can students get advice?
While nothing can replace a phone call home, we do our best to meet each student’s needs.
For general student life questions – orientation, student organizations, campus activities – students can contact Student Engagement and Activities
While living in the residence facility, students can always seek help from their Resident Assistant. RA’s are upperclassmen who are assigned to a floor in the housing facility and offer support by mentoring, connecting them with the campus community, and fostering relationships with and among the residents through planned activities.
When it comes to choosing classes or a career, students can always find help through Career Services. Career Services
Our Student Success Center can help students work through such issues as time management and study skills. Student Success Center
Student Success Series Workshops are an excellent way to increase your knowledge about a wide variety of topics and assist you in your studies at A&M-Texarkana. Workshops are offered each semester and are available to ALL students. Workshop presenters include faculty, staff, and members of the community who bring a wealth of knowledge about academic and student life issues. Topics may include time management, textbook reading for comprehension, note-taking, test taking, specific content area topics in writing and mathematics, etc.
The Student Learning Communities Program groups students together with other students who share majors and/or interests. They attend core classes together providing a supportive environment for academic achievement.
Learning support provides 1 on 1 tutoring who help with note-taking and test-taking skills in the Success Center.
Common Reading Experience provides an opportunity for students to connect in and outside of the classroom. Our goal is for students to become sharper readers, to have a greater understanding of diversity, and to experience a world outside of the local communities we serve.
Our Student Services Office is extremely dedicated to helping students who have physical or learning disabilities through our Disability Support Services.
