Course Reserves

Course Reserves provide access to course readings and materials for use in a specific course.  They are print or electronic materials selected by faculty or librarians to support the instructional requirements of a class.  Reserve materials can include books, book chapters, textbooks, journal articles, maps, old exams, professor's notes, and homework solutions necessary for course work.  Ask for these items at the Service Desk.

When searching for course materials, you may choose from the following search functions in the WorldCat Discovery:

  • INSTRUCTOR: For items on Course Reserves, you may search by your instructor’s name.
  • COURSE NAME: You can search for Course Reserves by course number or title.
  • DEPARTMENT:  You can also search for Course Reserves by department.

The Course Reserves landing page automatically displays all active course reserves.

The library offers faculty the opportunity of placing resources on reserve to make sure they are available for their students to use. Students must request these materials at the 3rd floor service desk of the library.

You may request items owned by the library be put on reserve or provide materials that you own to be made available. Simply fill out the online Reserve Request Form or request one at the 3rd floor service desk to accompany the reserve item(s). Please specify whether the materials will be on “general reserve” or “course reserves” for particular scheduled classes. All reserve materials must be renewed at the end of the semester in order to remain on active reserve. Library staff will contact you to arrange the return of personal materials that are not renewed.
