Video Captioning Tools

We have a contract with Rev to caption videos at a cost of $1.00 a minute. If you have instructor-created instructional videos you need to have captioned, please contact LearningTech@tamut.edu to request account access to Rev. We can also schedule video captions for you; just sent the name of the course and a list of videos in each module, and we will obtain the links to the videos and request captioning. We can also assist you with integrating the caption files with the videos once we receive them.

For student-created videos, students can utilize the free service provided by Amara.org. This service allows students to play what they hear as they tab their way through their videos. They can also link their YouTube channel to easily modify and sync YouTube-generated captions.

For 3rd party videos, Amara also has a video embed feature that allows you to caption videos you do not own and embed the original video and your captions together on a webpage (such as in Blackboard). We can request captions for 3rd party videos and integrate them with the embedded video using Amara's video embed feature.
