Texas Certifications Offered
Texas A&M University-Texarkana is accredited by the Texas Education Agency in the preparation of teachers, principals, educational diagnosticians, reading specialists, school counselors, and superintendents. Students seeking teaching certification as part of an undergraduate degree apply for admission through the Teacher Preparation Program the first semester of their junior year. All freshman and sophomores should be aware of the high admission standards.
Coursework and field experiences prepare Secondary (Grades 7-12) candidates for their initial certification. At the undergraduate or Post-Bac level, students may earn certification in the following areas:
Early Childhood (EC) through 6th Grades
- Core Subject with Endorsement in Early Childhood or Special Education or Bilingual or English as a Second Language (Spanish)
- Endorsements available in

Grades EC-12
- Kinesiology with EC-12 Physical Education
