Brandon Pettey
TAMUT senior prepares for teaching career
BA-English, Secondary Teaching Certification
As university students begin to arrive on campus, most are busy outfitting their dorm room, looking over class schedules, and catching up with roommates and friends. But senior education major Brandon Pettey is getting ready for the 8th grade.
This term Brandon will be completing his student teaching as an 8th grade English teacher at Texas Middle School. "I enjoy working with students that age," Pettey said. "I recently finished working with the Young Writers Workshop here at A&M-Texarkana, and it just confirmed to me that teaching is where I need to be."
Brandon is originally from Creekview High School in Carolton, TX, and will graduate in May 2019 with a degree in English and a secondary teaching specialty. He began his college career at Northeast Texas Community College before transferring to Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
