Lindsay Skinner, Secondary Instructional Specialist with the New Boston Independent School District, holds two degrees and her Texas Teacher Certification from A&M-Texarkana. After completing her undergraduate degree in accounting, she returned to become a certified teacher before eventually completing her master’s degree in 2010. Lindsey says one of the best things about her experience at TAMUT was the opportunity to get an education from a reputable institution while staying close to home and her family. She speaks about how much her teachers cared about students, remembering the time one of her professors called her in the hospital to check on her after the birth of her first child. “I was in the hospital and had just given birth a few hours earlier. One of my professors called to check on me and make sure everything was ok. I’ve never forgotten that,” Skinner said.

As a school administrator she often comes in contact with young, entry level teachers as they look for their first teaching jobs. She says the education students from TAMUT are very well prepared. “Students coming in from TAMUT seem very in touch with what is needed in education today. Their education prepares them very well and they know what to expect.”
