Laura Carper is an Assistant Professor of Communication in the Department of Humanities. She grew up in a small town in South Louisiana near Hammond, LA. She received her Ph.D. in the Spring of 2021. She has been an instructor of communication at both LSU and Louisiana Tech University. Her research areas in include health, risk, family, and applied communication.

Dr. Carper has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in Communication, Mass Communication, and Speech. Including: introduction to communication studies, public speaking, small group communication, fundamentals of communication, introduction to media, health communication, ethical issues in media, and research methods. In addition to her undergraduate course work, she has instructed graduate seminars in research methods, health communication media technologies, conflict management, and legal and ethical issues in emerging media.
