Dr. Rincón is a Regents Professor for the Texas A&M University System, where she joined A&M-Texarkana in 2005. She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Ball State University, with her 2004 dissertation earning the Dissertation of the Year Award. She now serves as a Professor of Instruction for Emergent Bilinguals, US Hispanic Studies, and Humanities. Dr. Rincón has received multiple honors for her teaching and mentorship, including the TAMUS Chancellor's Academy of Teacher Educators Award in 2014 and 2022. Dr. Rincón has directed numerous student exchange programs to Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Peru, and Costa Rica. In 2014, she collaborated in launching the International Studies Office, which subsequently secured a 100K Strong in the Americas grant for student exchanges with Colombia. Her efforts also led to the institution's participation in the U.S.-Mexico Bilateral Forum and the 'Proyecta 100K Training Program.' Most recently, in 2023, she once again secured a 100K Innovation Fund award from the U.S. Department of State to facilitate international student research on ecosystems in both Texarkana and Colombia.
Dr. Rincon’s professional experience is diverse, encompassing both academic and administrative roles across various countries. She teaches Intro to Humanities, Instruction for Emergent Bilinguals, and US Hispanic Culture. Her most extensive teaching experience was at A&M-Texarkana from 2005 to 2022, where she taught a wide variety of courses in Spanish, Applied Linguistics, English as a Second Language Instruction, and Bilingual Education. Prior to that, they taught Beginning and Intermediate Spanish at Indiana University East from 2000 to 2005. Her career also includes administrative leadership as an Elementary School Principal in Bucaramanga, Colombia, from 1998 to 2002, and early experience as a Spanish Teacher Assistant in London from 1993 to 1994.

Dr. Rincón is a professor in the Division of Humanities and Education. She has taught a variety of courses in Applied Linguistics, Spanish, US Hispanic Studies, Humanities, and Instruction for Emergent Bilinguals. She has been an advisor for programs in Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language, and Foreign Language Teaching. In that role, she has also mentored and supported teacher candidates preparing for the bilingual education supplemental exam.
Dr. Rincon’s research interests focus on geolinguistic theory, including the application of the gravity model and the role of space in linguistic diffusion. Since 2004, she has been conducting a longitudinal study on linguistic change in the Santander, Colombia dialect, recently applying the scientific method to examine spatial processes in the region's rural varieties.
