Biography
Dr. Sushil Sharma is Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs and Dean of Graduate & International Education and Dean of the College of Business, Engineering, and Technology (CBET) and tenured professor of Management Information Systems (MIS) at Texas A&M University, Texarkana. Earlier, he served as an Associate Provost and Graduate Dean for three years at Texas A&M University, Texarkana. Dr. Sharma holds the unique distinction of having earned two doctoral degrees. Dr. Sharma is responsible for overseeing and leading the Office of Research and Sponsored Projects (ORSP), the Office of Graduate Studies (OGS), the Office of International Studies (ISO), the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Research, and Planning (IERP), the School of Professional Education and Community Engagements (PECE) Technology Innovation and Digital Education (TIDE), and Transfer Pathways and Articulation. In his Earlier role, Dr. Sharma had an oversight of Extended Education and Community Development (EECD), the registrar, the library, and the honors program.
Before joining Texas A&M, Dr. Sharma was a tenured faculty member (2001-2021) and served as the Associate Dean (2012-2021) of the AACSB-accredited Miller College of Business at Ball State University (R2 research university) in Indiana. Before his Associate Deanship, Dr. Sharma has been the Executive Director for MBA and other Certificate Programs (2011-2013) and Department Chair for Information Systems and Operations Management (2008 – 2012) at Ball State University, besides being Chair of the Quantitative Systems Group, Chair of the IT Systems group (1992- 2000), Placement Chair, Chair of Student Affairs and Alumni at world-class premier top tier research R1 business school; the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow, India often referred to as the "Harvard of India". Dr. Sharma has a uniquely international academic and professional background, having taught as full-time or visiting faculty in premier institutions of international acclaim and repute at IIM, Lucknow (often referred to as the "Harvard of India") (1990-2000) University of Waterloo (2000 - 2001), Canada (known to be the MIT of Canada), Turku School of Economics (Finland) and Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand (2011). He has lectured at many renowned universities/Colleges worldwide, on almost all continents. Dr. Sharma has directed executive development programs and consulted with companies/organizations in the USA and India. The research work on 'Cyber-Slacking,' COVID – 19 and other MIS-related topics has been widely covered and cited by several media and news channels.
Dr. Sharma has been honored multiple times in Indiana’s Who’s Who in Education. He is a graduate of the prestigious Management and Leadership in Education (MLE) Program from Harvard University. Dr. Sharma is a distinguished researcher, with his published research having been cited more than 9,000 times, as indicated by an H-index of 38 and an i10-index of 146 (Google Scholar Citation Report). Dr. Sharma has co-authored and co-edited seventeen (17) books and published over one hundred (100) refereed research papers in a leading peer-reviewed scholarly journals, the most reputed national and international Management and MIS journals, highlighting cutting-edge research and theories that advance knowledge on management information systems. In addition, he has published over sixty (60) refereed chapters in various books and has presented and published over one hundred and seventy-five (175) papers at various national and international conferences. Dr. Sharma's research has appeared in several top-ranked journals in the MIS field, including Decision Support Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, Information Systems Frontiers, Journal of Information Privacy & Security (JIPS), Electronic Commerce Research Journal, Journal of Information System Security (JISSec), International Journal of Information Security and Privacy (IJISP), the Journal of International Technology and Information Management (JITIM), International Journal of E-Business Research, Journal of Public Health and Information Management and Computer Security. He has authored two cases published by the Ivy Schools of Business at the University of Western Ontario and available through Harvard Business Publishing. Dr. Sharma has served as the editor-in-chief (2007 – 2012) and later Co-editor-in-chief (2013 – 2020) of the International Journal of E-Adoption. He has been a guest editor, associate editor, reviewer, and member of the editorial boards for several national and international journals in MIS.
He has been a featured keynote speaker at numerous international conferences, professional forums, executive development programs, seminars, and academic conferences worldwide, covering topics related to management and technology.

Dr. Sharma has been recognized for teaching, research, and service several times at Ball State University, receiving the 'Extraordinary Year Award' for three consecutive years (2003, 2004, and 2005). the 'Outstanding Researcher of the Year Award' for 2008 at the college level, the 'Outstanding Researcher of the Year Award' for 2007 at the university level, the 'Outstanding Faculty Award' for 2009 at the university level, and the 'Outstanding Administrator of the Year Award' in 2016.
Dr. Sharma has successfully secured external grants from various funding agencies, including the United States Department of State, and has served on the review panel for the National Science Foundation (NSF) to evaluate funding proposals.
