Biography

Dr. Jiao is an Assistant Professor of Economics in the Department of Accounting, Economics, and Finance. She joined Texas A&M University in Texarkana in 2023. She received her Ph.D. in Economics from Kansas State University. Dr. Jiao has a broad range of research interests that span labor economics, public policy, and economic development. Her primary area of concentration lies in the economic impact of culture and language.

Research Interest

Dr. Jiao’s research interests encompass labor economics, public policy, and economic development. Broadly, her curiosity lies in comprehending how culture and language influence various factors like income levels, the welfare of employees, migration decisions, and their influence on the economic assimilation of migrants. Lately, her research has focused on exploring how policy and culture contribute to the formation of gender and racial inequalities.
